We are the Friends of Reddish South Station, a community group who are campaigning for a regular rail service from Stockport (and beyond) to Manchester Victoria (and beyond) via Reddish South & Denton Stations. The station was closed except for a once a week 'parliamentary ' train in 1991. We also determined to refurbish the station platform as it had been neglected for over 15 years when the group started (in July 2007) The platform has been refurbished and is ongoing work. Currently we have been given funding under the 'Restoring Your Railways' government scheme to investigate the feasibility of introducing a regular service and are waiting for a report to be published. We regularly hold events on the station such as the Macmillan Coffee Morning, and have commemorated the centenary of the end of WW1 and VE Day with art projects involving local children. We have also been used for a community Tai Chi class, when the usual location was unavailable!
